As I was studying the Book of Revelation this week, this question of Beth Moore’s stood out to me:

In v.20 of Revelation chapter 9, the words, “they did not stop” gathered some of Beth’s attention20 The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk) and she asked, “Do you ever get the feeling that God is saying “Stop it” to you?”

She went on to say, “I certainly do. Sometimes God goes from whispered warnings deep down in our spirits to shouts through crisis and chaos all around us. Keep in mind that God never commands us to stop doing anything that is edifying to us and best for us. Even as believers in Christ with a secure future in Heaven, we can experience painful chastisements on earth. When God gives us a serious warning and chance to repent, let it not be said of you and me, “they did not stop.”

See to it that you do not refuse Him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused Him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from Him who warns us from heaven? (Heb 12:25)
