M.A.D. Now! (Make A Difference Now!)
On June 18, 2002, Patti was in a tragic car accident. Because of her closed-head injuries and her long, arduous road of learning to live again, she, now, as a head-trauma survivor, passionately encourages us to live life to the fullest! Patti urges us to step out of our box and connect with others. Paul says it like this: “Let us not grow weary in doing good; for at the proper time we will reap a harvest, if we don’t give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers” (Gal. 6:9,10 NIV). In essence, serve others and lay-hold of your opportunity to make a difference!

Leave A Legacy
Why do you do what you do? Patti points out how important it is to live with intention and be on-purpose. Learn how to mentor the people coming behind you! Talk with them. But don’t merely talk, communicate effectively with them – listen to them, ask them questions, challenge them. And please, don’t forget to encourage them all along the way! Encouragement is much like Vitamin B-12…it gives strength to the heart! The wisdom of Proverbs says, “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones” (Proverbs 17:22 NIV). Relationships play a major role in our leaving a legacy in the fabric of life.

“The life we live today is the legacy we leave tomorrow.” ~Patti Foster

“A legacy is created only when a person puts his organization into the position to do great things without him.” ~John Maxwell

Lean Into Life
In this session, Patti encourages us to take a step toward life. Yet, in all honesty, she knows that to be very hard to do at times, because life can be frantic! As a recovering traumatic brain injury survivor, Patti has learned some valuable lessons that she passes along to others. For instance, she keeps a stack of Post-It notes with her almost everywhere she goes. Why, you ask. So, she can remember things that she doesn’t want to forget. She points out how important it is to write things down – whether on a Post-It note or in a journal. When life gets tough, try again. Don’t give up! And remember to laugh at yourself. Like the writer of the book of Ecclesiastes says, “…a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance…” (Ecc. 3:4 NIV). Lean into life and learn the value of the things that matter.

Stay In The Balcony
In life, there are two kinds of people: basement people and balcony people. Patti shows us the difference between the two. The doldrums of life have a way of taking us prisoner. This is where the negative world of the basement people abounds. However, when we want – and need – the healthy road that rises above mediocrity, this is when the balcony people come to our aid and show us they care. They speak and live words of life. Paul says, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen” (Eph. 4:29 NIV).Balcony people encourage each of us to be “uniquely you,” as God designed us to be. Patti will give us some vital truths that will invigorate us to come out of the basement and begin to live in the balcony. You’ll discover that small things really do make a BIG difference!
